As the 2022 edition of the highly innovative entertainment awards in Nigeria, Yoruba Movie Gist Awards, is fast approaching, the organizers, Olakiitan Adetutu Communications Limited, has introduced some new categories into the nomination list.
They are Music Category, Best Cinema Movie of the year, Best Arena Movie of the year, Best Cinema Movie Actor of the year, Best Arena Movie Actor of the year, Yoruba Movie Gist Best Actor of the decade etc.
Speaking on the new initiative, the CEO Yoruba Movie Gist Awards, Mr Gbolahan Adetayo stated that, “the reason his organization is introducing this set of new categories is because, we looked deep into the industry and we realized that, there are many actors that needs to be celebrated more than the regular ones we see everyday but people hardly talk celebrate them.
“Some of them no longer participate in home videos, rather they specializes on Cinema jobs, making some of their fans in the industry, who probably don’t visit Cinemas believe that they are no longer acting.
“We are also introducing the music categories simple because there is a need for it. Most of the musicians in Nigeria, singing with Yoruba language are less celebrated and that’s the reason the management of Yoruba Movie Gist Awards chooses to introduce the category”, he said.
