Years after she left the Nigerian entertainment industry to seek greener pasture outside elsewhere, fast rising actress, Tolani Omomowo Yetunde better known as Tolani Tonto has finally returned into acting as she recently released her new flick titled “Folayemi”.
It is a movie about a lady called Folayemi who came back from abroad to take care of her father’s company but unfortunately the event took a dramatic twist when she faced an emotional attachment with two men.
The movie, which according to the producer is for men to believe in their selves and be contented with what they have. Marriage isn’t about marrying a girl from a wealthy family before it can be successful.
The Ondo State born but brought up in Lagos released the film to Yorubaplustv YouTube channel on February 27th 2022, and it has since been enjoying massive viewing.
On why she left the industry some years back, Tolani said, “I joined the movie industry through a friend in Badagry but then I wasn’t really serious about it until I met Tunde Popoola(JJ) in 2005, He was the one really trained and gave me everything I needed to know about acting. After I joined, the experience was very hard, and some years later, I now realized that it’s actually not easy to become an actor or a movie producer. So, I hustled to produce my own movies in 2012 & 2014 which were packaged and directed by Kayode Adebayo. Shortly after that, I did another one in 2015 the movie was packaged by Shola Akintunde(Lagata) but the marketing aspect of it was not good enough, so I left the industry for a while until 2021 when I came back to produce another one called Folayemi.
I faced a lot of challenges in this industry. Like going to movie locations for 5days without passing through camera, no room to sleep except I pay for my hotel room. Later, I realized that if you don’t have money nobody want to associate with you, a lot of directors and producers had left me stranded at movie location because I have nothing to offer them. This is part of the reasons I left to hustle for money before coming back.
After 3 movies, yet I still got nothing in return so I traveled to South Africa where I learned nail fixing and after some months I became a professional nails technician and I started working on my own. Later, I traveled again to Turkey, though the hustle there wasn’t okay, I tried to open a nail studio in Nigeria in 2019 but due to some circumstances I couldn’t go on with my plan so I relocated to UAE and I got a job in a big spa as a nails technician. In 2021 I came back home to continue my movie career and I produced the movie titled FOLAYEMI directed by Kayode Adebayo and marketed by Corporate Pictures. I want people to watch this movie and learn something new about marriage”, she said.
