The Nollywood industry has been thrown into mourning once again as popular actor Jamiu Olabankewi announced the passing of his beloved mother on Monday night.
The sad development comes exactly four years and three months after the death of his father, the legendary Yoruba movie star, Fasasi Olabankewi, popularly known as Dagunro, who passed away in June 2022.
Jamiu broke the heartbreaking news to his fans and colleagues via his official Instagram page, where he shared his late mother’s photograph alongside a short but emotional caption:
“My mommy why, RIP” 😭
The news has since sparked an outpouring of grief and condolence messages from fans, fellow actors, and well-wishers across social media, with many praying for strength for the family to bear this double loss.
Late Dagunro was a revered Nollywood veteran, known for his action-packed traditional roles and epic performances in Yoruba movies. His legacy continues through his son, Jamiu, who has made a name for himself in the industry.
The death of Jamiu’s mother marks yet another painful chapter for the Olabankewi family, as they once again bid farewell to a loved one within a short span of years.
