The highly intelligent screen diva is at the moment in location shooting a multi million naira project titled Jankariwo, a new movie that features all the A-list actors in the Yoruba movie genre of Nollywood.
JANKARIWO Talks about so many things such as leadership, greediness, love, friendship, spirituality, death, life, origin, drug abuse, molestation and all that.
It was Written and Produced by Bukunmi Oluwasina and directed by Ibrahim Yekini Itele.
In a chat with Gbolahan Adetayo, Bukunmi spoke at length on Jankariwo and why she is producing the movie.
According to her, “We are still filming it, I won’t be able to give you more details about the story line, Jankariwo is a story that’s full of moral lessons. It talks about so many things such as leadership, greediness, love, friendship, spirituality, death, life, origin, drug abuse, molestation and all that.
“Regardless your status, Jankariwo is a movie for everyone to see. If you watch the movie, you will surely see one habit that talks about you as a person and of course, it is for you to learn from it and adjust. This is a movie I can’t wait for the rest of the world to see, trust me.
“Jankariwo is a movie I have in my head for a very long time and I recently started working on the story when I got pregnant. I told myself that any movie I am going to shoot next, I will feature virtually all the people I have missed working with and when I was casting, I didn’t know that I have casted almost everybody in the industry.
“I was just like this person will be good for this role and before I know it, I already have all the A-list actors in the film. Jankariwo is a great movie, something you shouldn’t miss.
“Talking about the financial aspect of it, if you are depending on what’s happening around us in the industry, you will never get to produce a good movie. I am of the opinion that whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well. My first project was actually one of the best, I premiered it at cinemas before releasing it on YouTube, DVD and all that, and it was because I was passionate about what I wanted to do, I shot it with my money and the outcome was nice.
“A lot of people have been asking me if this job is for Netflix because we have been taking out time shooting it. Today makes it day 11 of shooting and we are still counting, we are not shooting with the regular equipments we usually use.
“People are already talking about cinemas, Netflix and all that but I am of the opinion that whatever movie you want to do, you have to do it well. Even though I am shooting for Netflix, YouTube or cinemas, I still have to do it to the best of my ability, which is what I am doing now.
“I am shooting the movie because it is something I have wanted to do long time ago, waiting for the best time which is now, I am actually doing the movie for my fans because alot of them have been craving for it. Ever since I got married, I have not produced any movie, I am producing this for them.
“I want them to know that their waiting actually worth it and that’s one of the reasons I am producing it.
“Several things influenced the movie. Tales by moonlight and alot of realities influenced the movie. Life generally, the way our leaders rule us in Nigeria. Jankariwo is a combination of so many things.
“Even when I was scripting it, my head was everywhere, I don’t even know how that thought came. When you watch the movie you will understand why I titled it Jankariwo, just watch out for it.
“It is not just a regular movie, it is a multi-million naira project. I am not talking about four or five million when I say multi-million naira project, I have spent a lot. I was scared when it was a few weeks to production day because I was looking at the stress as a lead character, breastfeeding and all that, my child only take breast milk and you know what that mean for me. I want people to watch out for the movie, thank you”.
