The organisers of the Naija Society Awards 2026, Olakiitan Adetutu Communications, have announced plans to host the prestigious awards ceremony on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the Chief Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu’s Hall, Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba, Lagos.
The ceremony, scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m., marks a new chapter for the awards platform, which was formerly known as the Yoruba Movie Gist Awards. According to the organisers, the rebranding reflects the broader vision of the awards to recognise and celebrate not only excellence in the entertainment industry but also outstanding individuals, brands, entrepreneurs, creatives and organisations making significant contributions to Nigerian society.
The Naija Society Awards is expected to bring together prominent personalities from the entertainment industry, business community, media, government and other sectors for an evening dedicated to celebrating achievement, innovation and positive impact.
The organisers said the awards platform is designed to provide greater visibility and recognition for individuals and organisations whose contributions are helping to shape society and inspire the next generation.
Beyond the awards, the 2026 edition is also positioned as a networking and collaboration platform, with corporate organisations, brands, government agencies, media organisations and entrepreneurs invited to participate as sponsors, media partners and strategic partners.
The organisers noted that partnership with the Naija Society Awards would provide brands with an opportunity to connect with a diverse audience while supporting talent, creativity and initiatives that promote excellence and positive social impact.
Speaking on the vision behind the rebranding, the CEO, Gbolahan Adetayo emphasised that the transition from Yoruba Movie Gist Awards to Naija Society Awards represents an expansion of scope while retaining the original commitment to celebrating people who are making meaningful contributions to the entertainment industry and society at large.
The organisers have therefore called on interested corporate bodies, brands, organisations and individuals to join the initiative through sponsorship and strategic partnerships.
