The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of the mother of popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Faithia Balogun Williams, who passed away over the weekend.
The veteran actress made the heartbreaking revelation in an emotional statement shared with her fans and well-wishers, explaining that her beloved mother died on the eve of her birthday celebration, a development she was unaware of at the time.
Faithia, who clocked 55 years old on Thursday, February 5, disclosed that although her birthday fell on a Thursday, she chose to celebrate with friends and associates on Sunday. Unknown to her, her mother had already passed on, with the devastating news deliberately withheld from her until after the celebration.
Describing her late mother as her cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner, the actress noted that the reality of her passing is yet to fully sink in, given the deep bond they shared.
Despite the emotional trauma, Faithia Balogun Williams stated that she has found solace in Allah (SWT), adding that the Williams family has decided to keep matters surrounding the loss private for now.
She appealed to fans, colleagues, and members of the public for prayers and support for herself and her siblings during this difficult period, assuring that burial arrangements would be communicated at a later date.
