As you read this, let’s us be the first to hint you that a renowned celebrity designer, Uju Okoye popularly known as Sycca-couture is at the moment in the right frame of mind following her new achievement in the Fashion and Styles industry.
The highly intelligent designer won the Most Outstanding Fashion Designer in 2021 at the prestigious Entertainment/Society awards ceremony organized by Naijasocietynews.com.
The damsel, who hails from a reputable family in Anambra State was honoured with the award for her immense contribution in taking the Nigerian Fashion and Styles industry to zenith through her creativity.
The innovative entertainment/society awards ceremony was held in Lagos on 11th July 2021 and the Most Outstanding Fashion Designer in 2021 award was presented to Sycca-couture after she got the highest votes in a category that also had other four celebrity fashion designers.
If you must know, Uju, who has her empire at Abuleado area of Festac town, Lagos got married to a well-known and respected business man who is the CEO of Gucci Natural Red Wine and their union is blessed with 5 beautiful children.
She is a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, with a BSc in Public Administration. She holds a professional course in an institute of Public Management Nigeria.
In the time past, she contested as Miss Public Admin during her time in school and she came out as First Runner Up. She has been a lover of fashion and styles, which according to her it was from her birth.
Growing up for her has been from one experience or the Other about styles and fashion, “I remembered vividly well when my Aunty would dressed me up with belt on my waist but knowingly that I would restyle the belt to give me a nice shape.During my NYSC, I joined a group at my CDS and that drew me so close to my Career. I styled every member during our POP performance. My first work was when I designed the T-shirt we used for seminar where I worked as an Administrator and I was fastidious to that. The charismatic nature of fashion and styles over powered my hesitation to venture into the industry.
I woke up one day and decided to go for training in other to acquire more knowledge about it and expatiate my craft. I had the passion since childhood and I would say it’s a gift. I first trained under a man known as Dauda, he’s from Ivory Coast and later moved to the CEO Luminee to make me a perfect designer I am today. In a nutshell, my passion for styles drove me into fashion and I became what I am today. I have gotten so much encouragement from my husband and that has been keeping me going stronger”, she said.
Professionally, she is 5 years in the fashion industry but the passion has been there from her birth.
