Shalewa Ologuro Old School & Palmwine Lovers’ Day Debuts in Abeokuta Amid Culture and Pageantry

 

The maiden edition of Shalewa Ologuro Old School and Palmwine Lovers’ Day was held in grand style at Kenland Gardens, Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, drawing lovers of culture, music and tradition to a colourful celebration.

The event, which kicked off at about 1pm on Sunday, February 15, 2025, lived up to its billing as a vibrant fusion of nostalgia and African heritage. Anchored by popular MCs Deacon Kamol and Honeytongue, the programme maintained high energy from start to finish, with guests treated to lively interactions and entertainment.

 

Attendees were thrilled by rich cultural displays, old-school music vibes and a variety of engaging activities that kept the atmosphere buzzing. Guests also enjoyed an array of African delicacies and palmwine, reinforcing the traditional theme of the gathering.

 

Speaking at the event, the convener, Titilayo Victoria Savage aka Shalewa Ologuro, expressed profound appreciation to individuals and organisations that supported the vision. She extended special thanks to Gbenga Adeyinka The First, Gvrancars UK, Otunba Dr Seye Kehinde of City People, YAGA Rentals, Firepemi Events, her mother, her sister Temitayo, Daddy Abbey Production and Sola Kosoko, OluwaTosin Soremi, Choixtradeevents, Hon. Ayoopo Somefun, Six ‘O’ Seven Foods, Buquiblaq Glam, Yemisi of Party Monster and Solid Rock Beginners for their encouragement and contributions towards the success of the maiden edition.

 

One of the highlights of the day was the Old School Best Dresser segment, which added glamour and excitement to the celebration. Mrs Tope Funje Adeogun emerged as the Best Female Old School Dresser, while Mr Gbolahan Adetayo, CEO of Yoruba Movie Gist Awards, clinched the Best Male Old School Dresser award. Both winners were presented with awards in recognition of their outstanding representation of the old-school fashion theme.

 

The event blended entertainment with cultural appreciation, creating a platform that celebrated African identity, music heritage and communal bonding. Guests described the maiden edition as refreshing and well-organised, expressing optimism that it would become an annual cultural fixture in Abeokuta’s social calendar.

 

With its colourful debut and impressive turnout, Shalewa Ologuro Old School and Palmwine Lovers’ Day has set a strong foundation for future editions, promising even bigger celebrations of tradition, nostalgia and unity in the years ahead.
