Three Commissioners in Plateau State Resigned (See Why)

Three Commissioners in Plateau State have resigned their appointments.
The Director of Press and Public Affairs, Government House, Macham Makut, disclosed this in a statement in Jos, on Wednesday.

Macham said their resignation was to enable them contest for the position of local government chairmen in their respective council areas during the forthcoming local government election scheduled for October this year.

According to the statement, the Commissioners were Zulfa Bitrus, the Commissioner for Housing who is vying for the chairmanship of Lantang North; Alhaji Dayyabu Garga, Commissioner for Urban Development contesting for the chairmanship of Kanam Local Government Area; and Kakmena Goteng, Commissioner for Higher Education, seeking to become the Chairman of Pankshin Local Government Area.

He said the resignation of the three commissioners was made public by the Commissioner for Information, Dan Bafter, after the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday.

The statement read in part, “Manjang said the governor approved that pending the appointment of new commissioners, some serving commissioners will oversee the running of the three ministries.

“Commissioner for Environment Mr Usman Idi will take charge of Urban Development while the Commissioner for Secondary Education Mrs Elizabeth Wapmuk handles affairs at the Higher Education Ministry. The Ministry of Housing will henceforth be supervised by the Commissioner for Special Duties Mr Jerry Werr.

“While appreciating the Governor for the opportunity to serve, Zulfa and Garga said they had a great opportunity to serve the state and contribute to the success of the APC administration.
