Property Owners Get Fresh Lifeline as Ogun Govt Extends Audit Deadline

The Ogun State Government has announced a two-week extension for property owners and occupiers affected by the ongoing physical development audit exercise to submit their title documents.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL Olatunji Odunlami, FNITP, the government said the extension is to allow more time for property owners and developers to either present their planning permits or approach the ministry and its agencies to regularize unapproved developments.

According to the commissioner, the decision reflects the government’s goodwill and responsiveness to appeals from affected property owners in Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, and other parts of the state.

“This extension demonstrates the State Government’s commitment to the rule of law and transparency. However, it does not in any way derogate from the constitutional and statutory actions already taken on the matter,” Odunlami said.

He reiterated that the ongoing physical development audit exercise across the state is not targeted at any individual or organization but it’s part of continuous efforts to ensure sustainable urban development.

The audit exercise is currently ongoing in Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, and other areas of Ogun State.
