Renowned humanitarian Engr. Dr. Olusegun Oludayo, a former President of the Rotary Club of Gbagada, Lagos, marked his birthday with a transformative empowerment program dedicated to widows, widowers and the elderly in the Oworonshoki community. Now in its fifth edition, the initiative continues to uplift vulnerable groups through medical outreach, economic empowerment, and community support, reaffirming Oludayo’s unwavering commitment to philanthropy and humanitarian service.
The event commenced with medical evaluations for elderly men and women from different LCDAs within the Oworonshoki area, ensuring that the celebration also served as a platform for community health support. The gathering drew high-profile dignitaries, including Senator Adefuye, the Olota of Otta, Oba Lanlege, the Kabiesi of Oworonshoki, the Alaketu of Kettu, and the Oloshoro of Oshoro Kingdom. Also in attendance were Asiwaju of Oworonshoki, Aniwura Iyalode Aduni Kazeem from Ogun State, a distinguished Gambian lady, and key figures from the Rotary Club of Gbagada and Oworonshoki.

Engr. Oludayo was joined by Amb. Dr. Kirty Sudhanshu, founder of Dave and Kirty’s Care Foundation, and Amb. H. Thaurahi, founder of Pathok KKF Kirty’s Care Foundation, both of whom have been instrumental in advancing humanitarian efforts across Africa.
Professor Nubi, a pastor from the University of Lagos, delivered an insightful message, referencing the Book of Psalms and emphasizing the importance of numbering one’s days. He shared reflections on aging, gratitude, and the need for continuous community support. His message resonated deeply with attendees, as he also highlighted the need to uplift widows and widowers. Following his speech, an Islamic cleric was also invited to offer prayers in acknowledgment of the diverse religious backgrounds present at the gathering.
The event’s planning committee chairman, Dr. Niyi Adeleye, in his welcome address, commended Engr. Oludayo’s outstanding contributions to philanthropy. He lauded the celebrant’s unwavering dedication to improving lives in Lagos and beyond, stating that the annual empowerment initiative has brought tangible benefits to many vulnerable individuals.
One of the highlights was a 15-minute presentation by a physically challenged woman, showcasing the strength and resilience of individuals living with disabilities. This was followed by a vibrant performance from the Adeshina Cultural Dancers, who thrilled the audience with their energetic display.
A major component of the celebration was the empowerment program, where several women received sewing machines, grinding machines, hand dryers, and other essential tools to help them achieve economic independence. The distribution was anchored by Rotarian Oluwafemi Adenekan, the District President of the Rotary Club of Gbagada, Oworonshoki area, who also took the opportunity to commend fellow Rotarians for their dedication to community development.
Before his departure, the Olota of Otta, Oba Lanlege, praised the celebrant as a longtime friend and humanitarian leader, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items donated. In a remarkable show of support, he donated a plot of land to further the mission of Dave and Kirty’s Care Foundation, reinforcing his commitment to sustainable philanthropy.
Dr. Engr. Olusegun Oludayo, in his closing remarks, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and supporters of the initiative. He acknowledged the challenges faced by over 25 million Nigerians living with disabilities and reiterated his foundation’s commitment to improving healthcare and welfare services. He emphasized that the annual event has grown significantly and continues to impact countless lives in Nigeria and across Africa.
The celebration, which officially kicked off at 10:30 AM with over 500 attendees, was conducted under maximum security and concluded with a lively session of music and dancing until 6 PM.
