Oba Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Receives Ikorodu Liberty 2024 Team’s Official Visit

By Oluwaseun Fabiyi

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the NCC Liberty Team paid a courtesy visit to the Ayangburen of Ikoroduland’s palace, acknowledging Oba Adewale Shotobi’s sovereignty and seeking his blessings. This visit followed the Yoruba tradition of showing respect to deserving individuals and leaders.

The visit aimed to strengthen ties between Nigerians and community leaders, inspiring Christian religious leaders and Nigerians to advocate for unity and social cohesion nationwide.

Given the New Covenant Church’s decision to host the Liberty crusades program in Ikorodu, the importance of this courtesy visit cannot be overstated.

In preparation for Liberty International’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, a distinguished delegation presented the particulars of the planned Liberty programme to the Oba, who responded with keen enthusiasm.

Oba Shotobi reflected on his personal journey, sharing how he combined his Muslim upbringing with a Methodist primary school education. He displayed a deep commitment to the Lord and His mission, choosing the Methodist Church for his thanksgiving service. He also shared experiences of partnering with RCCG, Deeper Christian Life, and KICC ministries in Ikorodu for outreach initiatives.

The Oba attentively listened as the Liberty team outlined their strategic plans for Ikorodu’s development. He expressed his satisfaction that the program, after 25 years of operation in places like Badagry and Epe, had finally come to Ikorodu.

Following the team’s presentation, the Ayangburen confirmed his attendance at the event and pledged to support NCC Liberty’s promotional efforts to ensure a strong turnout. He also promised to facilitate direct communication with Ikorodu General Hospital to address the program’s medical needs and requested patience regarding the team’s land allocation request.

The palace visit by the Liberty team reflects a sense of divine intervention. The team believes that the Lord has personally initiated and sustained the Liberty programme, guiding its preparations and ongoing developments. This belief should inspire and motivate all involved, recognizing that their collective efforts are ultimately in service to the Lord Jesus Christ, who continues to work in and through them.

The Ayangburen’s backing is essential for hosting the five-day Christian spiritual empowerment program in the Ikorodu area.

The New Covenant Church worldwide’s 2024 Liberty program is scheduled to take place at Ikorodu Town Hall, Olubi Street off Ayangburen Road, from October 30 to November 3, 2024.

The Liberty program is an annual event featuring a diverse range of activities, including crusades, medical aid, empowerment initiatives, salvation services, healings, deliverance, free reading glasses, financial empowerment, youth rallies, and uplifting worship, among others.

The Ikorodu Liberty initiative promises to have a profound impact, benefiting all residents of Ikorodu while liberating the community and its environs from deep-seated ancestral spirits that have hindered growth and development in the area.

In attendance at the palace courtesy visit were distinguished leaders, including National Overseer Revd Abimbola Oladipo and Revd Mrs. Oladipo, Revd Olawale Omisade (Rtd), Revd Olubunmi Ijiehin, Lagos’ Deputy Conference Pastor / Pastor of Isolo Centre, Revd Dolapo Agunbiade of NCC Ikorodu Centre, and Pastor David Abraham (Rtd).
