Kingsfield Schools, BiC Pen, Pop Cola, and Others Partner to Support Oba Ayangburen and the Bee 2024 Spelling Contest

The 2024 edition of the Oba Ayangburen and the Bee is gaining significant backing from corporate sponsors, with Kingsfield Schools, BiC Pen, Pop Cola, and other notable brands stepping in to support this educational initiative aimed at enhancing the literacy skills of primary school pupils across Lagos State. The spelling competition, which has grown since its inception in 2022, promises to be the largest yet, drawing over 2,000 participants from 12 Local Government Areas.

Scheduled to culminate in a grand finale at the Ikorodu Town Ultramodern Hall on November 27, 2024, this year’s contest is designed to empower pupils through a challenging, yet entertaining, platform that tests their spelling and vocabulary skills.

Project Coordinator Miss Taiwo Otesanya highlighted the importance of the support from brands like Kingsfield Schools, BiC Pen and Pop Cola, which have played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of this year’s event. “We are grateful for the backing of brands like Kingsfield Schools, BiC Pen and Pop Cola, which have shown true commitment to educational advancement. Their support has enabled us to reach more students and provide even better resources for this year’s competition,” she noted.

Other confirmed sponsors include Colgate, Confidence Global Communication, Beloxxi Biscuits, Epee Tech Solution, Oshodi Arts Gallery, O.P.E.N., Headway Events, Peak Milk, and Senator Abiru, among others. These partnerships are helping to provide cash prizes, scholarships, corporate endorsements, and other exciting rewards for the participants.

In addition to the spelling contest, this year’s event will feature the newly introduced Oba Ayangburen and the Bee Advocates of Education Awards, which will celebrate individuals and organisations dedicated to promoting educational development in Lagos State. “This award is another way to elevate the project and honour those who are helping to shape the future of education,” said Project Initiator Mr. Temidayo Phillips.

The grand finale will see 30 finalists competing for the coveted spelling bee title, with top prizes including scholarships and other exciting gifts. Discussions are still ongoing with prospective partners such as Justrite Supermarkets, Fan Milk, and Lagos State House of Assembly, who are expected to lend additional support to the project.
