IMT Enugu, Ignatius Ajuru Win Zonal Honors in NOA’s Value-Driven Debate Tour

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) continues its Value-Train-to-Campus Tour, aimed at promoting national values and fostering a culture of responsible citizenship among Nigerian youth. On November 25, 2024, the tour reached the South-South and South-East zones, featuring vibrant debates and capacity-building sessions across prominent institutions.

In the South-South zone, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, clinched the top spot after an intense competition. The South-East zone saw the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, Enugu State, emerge as champions. Both institutions secured their places in the grand finale, where they will compete for the ultimate prize of N20 million.

The campus debate revolved around the thought-provoking topic: “The 7-for-7 National Values Charter: Striking the Balance Between Government Promises and Citizens’ Responsibilities in Nation Building.” First-place winners in the zonal contests received N5 million and the opportunity to advance to the finals, while second-place winners took home N2 million.

Beyond the debates, the event featured a capacity-building session facilitated by Strength Africa. The session emphasized the importance of national values and the role of young people as Citizen Values Brigadiers, change agents, and ambassadors for nation-building. Participants were awarded the Citizen Values Brigade (CVB) certificates in recognition of their commitment to these ideals.

The next phase of the Value-Train-to-Campus Tour heads to the North-Central zone on November 28, 2024, at Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Kwara State. A thrilling showdown is anticipated between Kwara State Polytechnic and the University of Ilorin.

The NOA’s Value-Train initiative continues to inspire the next generation of Nigerians, reinforcing the importance of unity, responsibility, and collective action in shaping the nation’s future.
