“How Prostitution Forced Me Out of Nollywood in 2019”- Actress, Ademola Jessica Confesses

Ademola Jessica AdunniAde @queenjessica_a is one of the young talents to watch out for in the Yoruba Movie industry in 2022. She is a Model, Actress, Red Carpet Host and the Chief Executive Officer of @jes_skincare, a company dealing in all sorts of beauty products. She joined the entertainment industry in 2012 as a model but she has been going to movie locations since 2014 to see how it’s being done, eventho it’s English movie locations.

Later in 2018 she decided to join the industry professionally as Funke Akindele held an audition and she was picked. Her first movie appearance was in Jenifas’ Dairy.

Shortly after that, she fell in love with the job and later joined Afeez Abiodun Owo’s group where she started appearing in Yoruba movies.

She has featured in so many movies like After One, Biribiri, Luli, My Siblings and I, Omo Ghetto The Saga and many more.

Education for her started from Morning Star Primary School, from there to Toklac Comprehensive College before she later gained admission at the National Open University, all in Lagos State.

In 2019, after she successful hosted Yoruba Movie Gist Awards (YMGA’s) red carpet, Jessica left the industry for a reason that is best known to her.

But when Gbolahan Adetayo engaged her on why she left the industry in 2019, the pretty actress said, “I took a pause because I never wanted to go into prostitution. Yes, it’s very challenging in the industry as a young beautiful lady to get good roles, if you don’t have money for your own production. And because I can’t put my back on the ground for movie roles, I decided to leave and concentrate on my business. I am a skincare formulator and I am into hair business as well.

So I concentrated on my business to put myself together financially but for the love of my career I couldn’t stay out of the movie Industry for too long.

Though, I was called in 2020 by SceneOne Production to feature in Omoghetto the Saga, when I got the call and message, I changed my mind and I went for it. That was the only job I did in 2020. This year, I am back fully for both presenting and acting. Luli, a movie produced by my baby girl Abefe welcomed me back into the industry. Though, it was a minor role but for me it’s more than that because my heart never left the entertainment industry for once. Now that I am fully back, expect more from me as I urge producers and directors to beckon on me for movie appearances. I am also back as a producer because I will now be producing my own movies. By God’s grace, I want to produce a project this year, you can anticipate for it”, she said.
