Popular hip-hop singer and Nollywood actress, Queen Seyi Ariyo, also known as Shebaby, has caused a stir among her fans with the upcoming release of her new single, “DND” (Do Not Disturb), set to debut today July 1st, 2023. The singer recently shared a teaser of the song on her social media platforms, sparking diverse reactions, particularly regarding the title of the track.
In response to the curiosity surrounding her choice of title, Shebaby issued a press release addressing the creation of her new single and the motivation behind its name. Shedding light on her decision, she stated, “I am someone who believes in being nice to all. I am a people pleaser, someone who would always like to respond to all notifications on my phone as it pops up. I always feel guilty when I ignore notifications, to me, I used to consider it as an act of ignoring people.”
Shebaby went on to explain that she began using the “DND” (Do Not Disturb) feature on her phone as a means to combat the constant urge to respond to notifications. She found that the overwhelming influx of notifications often served as distractions and hindered her productivity. “Having my phone on DND makes me more productive and enables my ‘To-do list’ to be more purposeful,” she emphasized.
The multi-talented artiste, who is known for her work in both the music and film industries, also highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline as an artist who is active on social media. She emphasized that without setting boundaries and being disciplined, it becomes challenging to find time for self-improvement and the creation of new content.
“DND” is a 2 minutes 26 seconds track, following her earlier release in January 2023, titled “Like Me.” Shebaby has an impressive discography, having collaborated with numerous artists in her songs, singles, and albums. Despite currently residing in the United Kingdom, the artist remains connected to her fans worldwide through her music and film projects.
Shebaby shared additional details about her upcoming projects, mentioning her latest Yoruba movie titled “Iko” (Hook), which is yet to be released in the market. She also recalled her August/September 2022 single, “Redflag,” featuring Rudy Omoibile, demonstrating her continuous dedication to her creative endeavors.
With the release of “DND” just around the corner, fans eagerly anticipate Shebaby’s latest musical offering, which promises to be another exceptional addition to her ever-expanding repertoire.
