Gbolahan Adetayo is a multi-award-winning journalist, movie producer, actor, and celebrities’ publicist. He was born and raised in Ipara Remo, Ogun State, on March 1st, 1980s. Although he comes from the family of PA Edward Adetayo Adekoya, he was primarily raised by his mother, Chief Mrs. Adetayo, and is the youngest child of the family. Gbolahan is the Chief Executive Officer of Olakiitan Adetutu Communications Limited, a registered PR firm located in Lagos. He is also the publisher at Naija Society News and Yoruba Movie Gist.
His educational journey began at Ipara Local Government School, after which he attended Saapade Grammar School. Later on, in 2001, he transferred to Ipara Community High School, where he completed his WAEC exams. In 2005, Gbolahan enrolled at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta to study Mass Communication, but he eventually changed schools for personal reasons. In 2006, he continued his studies at Wolex Polytechnic in Adealu, Lagos, where he obtained his National Diploma Certificate in Mass Communication. Subsequently, in 2010, he gained admission to the Nigerian Institute of Journalism to pursue his Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication.
While still in school, Gbolahan briefly worked at Radio Lagos/Eko FM in 2007. In 2008, his career in print journalism took off as he secured employment with a community journal known as Ikeja/Agege Area News Magazine. He has since worked with various Nigerian soft-sell magazines, including Royal Classic Magazine, City Pride, Top Celebrities, Enquirer, Newsthumb, News of The People, and City People Magazine. Alongside his print journalism career, Gbolahan has successfully established three online platforms: Yorubamoviegist.com, Naijasocietynews.com, and Gbolahanadetayo’s blog, all of which have made significant impacts in society. Additionally, he owns Olakiitan Adetutu Communications Limited, a registered PR firm.
Despite facing numerous threats from Nigerian celebrities, Gbolahan has chosen not to relent in practicing his precision journalism. As a testament to his dedication and skill, he has received several awards, including a nomination for the Celebrity Media Awards as Best Youth Reporter in 2010 and the Young Journalist of the Year award in 2011. In 2015, he was honored with the TUSH Awards as Youth Journalist of the Year, and in 2016, he received the Endowed Haven Best Journalist of The Year award. He also won Islamic Reporter of the Year Award in 2016.
It is worth mentioning that Gbolahan Adetayo is a brand ambassador for NUMATVILLE, a real estate company based in Abuja. In March 2016, he was endorsed as one of the company’s favorites and received a complementary plot of land in the city. Notable Nigerian celebrities such as Tuface Idibia, Ruggedman, Kiss Daniel, Mama G, and Tonto Dike were also endorsed by the company.
Gbolahan’s accomplishments extend beyond journalism and public relations. In 2017, he ventured into acting with his debut movie titled “Aala Ife.” Since then, he has produced additional movies, including “After One,” “Akobi,” “Olakiitan,” and many more. Until his resignation in 2018, he served as a presenter on Ajradio and hosted “Bosenlo Entertainment” on Orisun TV. He also held the position of editor at Happenings Online Media.
