It was indeed a sad day for the family of popular filmmaker, Tunde Dickson, last Thursday as his mum, Mrs Veronica Durola Disu, died exactly 20 years after her husband’s death.
According to information made available to us, the family was preparing for their father’s 20th remembrance when their mum, who was not sick, passed away in the early hours of the day at the age of 77.
Speaking on the incident with Gbolahan Adetayo, Dickson said:
“We were planning for my father’s 20th remembrance scheduled to hold last Thursday. I had made arrangements for refreshments in my own little way. In fact, as of Wednesday, my mum and I were planning it together ahead of the D-day, which was the following day.
After the preparations, I left the house to sleep elsewhere, only to receive her call around 6am on Thursday. I initially thought she was calling to remind me to come early for the event. Instead, she complained of tiredness and was rushed to the hospital.
On getting there, the doctors said she was short of blood. We supplied everything needed. Afterwards, the doctor said she needed to run some tests, and we made the payment. Sadly, she was declared dead around 8pm that same day.
Shockingly, the preparations we made together for my dad’s remembrance were eventually used for her.”
Mrs Veronica Durola Disu’s Christian Wake Keep will hold on Wednesday, 21st January 2026, while she will be laid to rest the following day.
