ADC Flexes Growing Muscle in Alimosho as Balogun Declares 2027 Governorship Ambition

Hon. Naheem Abiodun Balogun, a governorship aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has officially signalled his entry into the 2027 Lagos State governorship race, raising concerns over what he described as the state’s underperformance despite its enormous economic strength.

Balogun made his intention known during an engagement with members of the Ọmọlúwàbí Progressives and executives of the ADC Alimosho Local Government Area at the ECO Event Centre, Egbeda, Alimosho, Lagos, on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Addressing party leaders and supporters, the Epe-born politician questioned why Lagos, with its massive Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and strategic importance, has yet to attain the level of infrastructure and service delivery associated with leading global cities. He argued that effective leadership and prudent management of resources could rapidly reposition the state for sustainable development.

While clarifying that the gathering was not a formal campaign event, Balogun said it was necessary to formally notify party stakeholders of his intention to seek the ADC governorship ticket. He stressed that the official campaign season would allow room for open debates, issue-based politics, and public interrogation of aspirants.

The aspirant, who traces his roots to Epe on both maternal and paternal sides, expressed appreciation for the warm reception he received and pledged to pursue purposeful governance anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, and measurable development if elected.
