Sola Dorcas Popoola is one of the respected executive members of the Theater Arts And Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN). She is the Public and Research Secretary (PRS) for Oyo State chapter of TAMPAN.
Dorcas was born and brought up in Ibadan, Oyo State but she is from Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.
Education for her staterd from Methodist Primary School Oke Ado, Ibadan before she moved to Community Grammar School, Oluyole Ibadan for her secondary school education.
Thereafter, she graduated aa Mass Communicator from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye.
As an undergraduate, she met with her boss, Segun Atewolara of blessed memory in 2001, who later brought her into acting industry by registering her as a member of ANTP back then. She later joined Asewo To Re Mecca (Yeye Toyin Adegbola) acting class, which was the reason people calls her Sola Asewo.
Today, Sola has four movies to her credit. She is the producer of Ayowamiri produced in 2011 and it was directed by Odunlade Adekola, Fagbajale was produced in 2012 and directed by Babatunde Ayoola Jero (Horror Director), Egba Orun (Chain) was directed by Tunde Ola-Yusuf before she released Obe (Knife) directed by Wale Rasaq.
In 2019, the delectable actress relocated to the United Kingdom, London, where she now resides and working for over two years.
According to her, “I relocated abroad to acquire more knowledge and for the betterment of my future. Living in London and Nigeria, the different is obviously huge. Talking about Security, Electricity, Healthcare and all that. They’re well organised. After God, I give it to them. I love Nigeria so much in times of activities and enjoyment, UK weather is not friendly sometimes. Winter is something else”.
Due to her youthful look, not everyone is aware that the talented screen diva has a grown up child.
Sola Popoola, we can authoritatively hint you has a daughter who is 18-year-old today.
She is Amoke, an undergraduate of Biochemistry at the University of Osun (Uniosun) .
When we asked the sexy actress about this claims, she said “My Amoke is so precious to me, She is God’s gift as her name implies. I had her in 2003 when I was in the University. To the glory of God, she clocked 18 years today 22/04/2021. She is at the moment studying in the University but by God’s grace she will join me here soon. She’s in indeed a blessing to me. Myself and her dad didn’t get married and why I didn’t married him is a long story. I never planned for it then but I thank God for this blessing anyway. I didn’t married him because I was in the University like I said initially, no plan for marriage because I was still schooling. It was not yet time for me because it wasn’t that easy but like I said I thank God for everything. He is now married. We’re now friends because everybody is matured now and we’ve forgetten about our differences. We forgive and forget, no issues”, she said.
Asking her if she has finally dump acting due to her relocation abroad, the dashing actress said, “no way, that’s my profession. Staying here in the UK is for the main time, I am coming back fully. Besides, when my people comes around, we film together. I have joined TAMPAN UK chapter. I was at the inauguration when our president came to UK to inaugurate the elected Excos and our he introduced me to the Vice President, Doyin Amodu and the Excos welcomed me. They always carry me along. At the moment, i am still the elected PRS of Oyo State TAMPAN. Just that they are not seeing me physically but I am still performing my duty as the PRS. Public and Research Secretary (PRS) 2nd time in Oyo State. I am still very much relevant and I get all the information here”.
