Boot Party’s Guber Candidate, Adenuga Promises to Tackle Electricity, Healthcare, Infrastructure in Ogun If…

The governorship candidate of the Boot Party in Ogun State, Engineer Adekunle Adenuga, has promised to address the state’s electricity, healthcare, education and infrastructure challenges if elected governor in 2027 general election

Adenuga accompanied by his running mate, Mrs Mary Olokodana and the party’s State Chairman, Architect Abiodun Akerele, made the pledge on Thursday during a political engagement with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State Council in Abeokuta, where he presented his vision for the state and responded to questions on critical sectors of the economy.

The governorship candidate said his administration would prioritise practical solutions to the challenges confronting residents, insisting that he was not interested in making promises merely to win public approval.

He expressed confidence in his professional background in electrotechnics, saying it had equipped him with the knowledge and experience to contribute to resolving Nigeria’s persistent electricity problems.

According to him, electricity and water are fundamental necessities that government must provide to improve living conditions and stimulate economic activities.

Adenuga described his proposed development agenda as part of a broader national vision, which he said would begin in Ogun State and serve as a model for other parts of the country.
He maintained that his administration would focus on delivering measurable results rather than engaging in what he described as political window dressing.
On infrastructure, the Boot Party candidate promised to develop a comprehensive programme covering electricity, water supply, roads, railways and other essential facilities.

He also disclosed that his plans included reforms in the management of state-owned media organisations, including Ogun State Television (OGTV) and government-owned radio stations.

Adenuga said his administration would study successful media management models and adopt appropriate policies to improve the operations and effectiveness of the state’s broadcast institutions.

On education, he assured the labour leaders that his government would take the sector seriously, promising to provide support for initiatives aimed at improving educational delivery.

He also addressed concerns about security at educational centres, following questions about attacks on some facilities. However, he did not provide specific details of proposed security measures in his response.

On healthcare, Adenuga said he had been researching solutions to Nigeria’s health challenges for years, adding that his proposed reforms would combine conventional facility-based services with mobile healthcare delivery.

He explained that the mobile healthcare initiative would complement existing health facilities and expand access to medical services.

According to him, healthcare reform requires careful planning and sustained implementation because of its importance to the well-being of citizens.

The candidate also pledged to support the automobile sector, describing it as an important source of employment. He said his administration would explore ways to empower operators in the sector through technology and other forms of government assistance.

Responding to concerns raised by market representatives, Adenuga acknowledged the importance of traders to grassroots commerce and the welfare of ordinary citizens.

He said market infrastructure and the economic conditions of traders deserved serious attention, although his response did not spell out specific commitments on affordable business loans, the removal of illegal levies or a transparent implementation framework.

On local government finances, the governorship candidate said his administration would respect the Constitution, the judiciary and the rule of law in determining the allocation and remittance of revenues to local councils.
He stressed that the management of public funds must comply with applicable legal provisions, assuring the participants that his government would follow established rules.

Adenuga also responded to a question about improving the performance of a depot, saying his administration would examine successful practices in other countries and adapt appropriate solutions to local circumstances.

Throughout the engagement, he urged the labour leaders and other stakeholders to examine his manifesto, saying it contained detailed proposals for addressing the concerns raised during the session.

He expressed gratitude to the NLC leadership led by Comrade Hameed Benco-Ademola, members of the labour movement and the people of Ogun State for their support, reiterating his commitment to people-oriented governance.

The engagement provided an opportunity for labour leaders to question the governorship candidate on his proposed policies concerning workers’ welfare, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, local government administration and economic development
