19 Years After the Death of a Famous Broadcaster, His Wife Dies

The family of late veteran broadcaster and investigative journalist Kola Olawuyi has been thrown into mourning once again following the death of his widow, Mrs. Abimbola Olawuyi, 19 years after the demise of her husband.

Mrs. Olawuyi reportedly died on Monday morning after a brief illness, bringing to a close nearly two decades of single-handedly raising the family following the loss of her husband.

Her death comes exactly 19 years after the passing of Kola Olawuyi, the fearless broadcaster fondly remembered for his groundbreaking investigative radio and television programmes, “Iriri Aye” and “Irinkerido.” Through the widely acclaimed programmes, Olawuyi exposed criminal activities, ritual killings, fraud, and other social vices, earning him a reputation as one of Nigeria’s most courageous investigative journalists.

Family sources and those close to the deceased described her as a devoted mother whose unwavering commitment and strength kept the family together despite the enormous challenges that followed the death of her husband.

As of the time of filing this report, details regarding her funeral arrangements had not been made public.
