Amidst tears and solemn emotions, Nollywood actress, Adetokunbo Fayomi, alongside her siblings, on Thursday, December 18, 2025, laid their mother, Late Deaconess Iyabode Ayodele Fayomi (née Sanya), to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The late Deaconess Fayomi, who until her passing was the Iya Ijo of Christ Almighty Church, CAC Agbala Ayo, Aremo, Ibadan, was honoured with a befitting funeral service held at Fabik Multipurpose Hall, Asolo, Olorunsogo area of the city. Family members, church faithful, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects to the revered church matriarch.
The funeral activities commenced in the early hours of the day with a wake-keep service, which flowed seamlessly into the main funeral service. The service was officiated by a team of ministers, including Pastor Adebayo, Pastor Oke, Pastor Odekunle, Pastor Akindele, Pastor Olubuse, as well as Deacons Olaitan, Osunrinde, Osadare, Akinyemi, and the choir who all took turns to lead prayers, hymns, and exhortations celebrating the life and legacy of the deceased.
In a significant and emotional moment during the service, the first daughter, Folashade Fayomi, and Nollywood actress Adetokunbo Fayomi were formally installed as Iya Ijo of Christ Almighty Church by the officiating ministers, a position previously held by their late mother during her lifetime.
Following the church service, the remains of Late Deaconess Iyabode Ayodele Fayomi were interred at her residence in the Adesiyan area of Olorunsogo, Ibadan, bringing the funeral rites to a close.
The burial ceremony was marked by tributes describing the deceased as a devoted Christian, loving mother, and a pillar of support within her church and community, whose impact will continue to be felt long after her passing.
The reception and event proper will take place today at Apata area of Ibadan.
