SDNON president, Otunba Femi Davies held incommunicado by DSS in Abeokuta

A seasoned media practitioner and versatile professional, Otunba Femi Davies, has been held incommunicado by Department of State Services (DSS) in Abeokuta.

Otunba Davies, who is also the president of the Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria, SDNON, was invited by the DSS in Abeokuta, Ogun State command today since 10am in the morning, in connection with an ongoing investigation. The invitation was extended by one Officer Michael of the DSS.

Respecting the lawful invitation, Otunba Davies promptly appeared at the DSS office in Abeokuta. However, to the dismay of his family, colleagues, and associates, it has been learned that he has been held incommunicado since his arrival. Despite numerous attempts to reach out to him, his whereabouts remain unknown.

It is important to note that Otunba Davies is an esteemed media practitioner, and not a politician. He should not be subjected to the dirty politics being played by those in power, who seem intent on witch hunting.

It is truly bewildering that no specific offence has been alleged against him. He was solely invited to assist the DSS with their ongoing investigation. However, it is concerning that this assistance has resulted in him being held incommunicado, without any clear justification.

“We urge the authorities at the DSS in Abeokuta to ensure the immediate release of Otunba Femi Davies, as his continued detention is unjustifiable and a breach of his fundamental rights. We also call upon the relevant authorities to ensure transparency and adhere to due process throughout this investigation.

“Otunba Femi Davies is a respected figure within the media industry, known for his contributions and dedication. It is imperative that he is treated with the respect and fairness he deserves.

“We implore the DSS to swiftly resolve this matter and allow Otunba Femi Davies to return to his family and continue his valuable work in promoting the entertainment industry,” said Seunmanuel Faleye, secretary, SDNON.
